The Mouths That Remain

This is a booklet of speculative poetry published in 2007 by Sam’s Dot Publishing and is available to buy online here.

Then

Back then when we were young
and had time to make belief –
flesh-tones were on everyone then.
The stars appeared
occasionally, and there were still
a few snow leopards left.
Birds sang, mainly in spring.
Vegetables and fruit were sometimes
out of season. Not many
couples had unidentical quads.
The Caribbean islands were still there.
People still read books about people
who never existed, and cried and laughed
by themselves, and felt OK.

Back then when we were young –
humour was in everything then.
